My name is Kath Keillor. I have lived in Shenley Brook End since 1986 with my husband and three sons, one of whom started at Caroline Haslett in 1992, the year that the school opened. I was asked in 1991 by Shenley Brook End Parish Council if I was interested in being a member of the temporary Governing Body of the new 'Shenley Lodge' School. I have been a governor at Caroline Haslett Primary School ever since and was Chair of Governors from 2003 to 2010. I have been the SENDCo at Caroline Haslett since April 2021. I studied Psychology at university and have worked with children since then. I am passionate about inclusion and ensuring that all children meet their potential, whatever their special needs may be. I lead our fantastic team of teaching assistants who support our SEN children, based in the Language Department. I was appointed staff governor in September 2022. I sit on the Teaching and Learning, Pupils and Parents Committee.

John Browne

Local authority governor

Specialist governor for Faraday committee

I sit on the Teaching & Learning, Pupils & Parents committee.

Hema Kotecha Clarke

Parent governor

I was pleased to join the Governing Board at Caroline Haslett Primary School in November 2022. I am a parent to one (soon to hopefully be two) children at the school and as such am keen to contribute to its continued success.

As a qualified Teacher and Educational Psychologist, I feel that I can do this by using my knowledge, skills and experience of what works well with children in schools. I feel that my experience of supporting the successful learning, social, emotional, sensory, communication and physical development of children, means that I can make a positive difference in the education, development and inclusion of all the children at CHPS.

I am a keen advocate for prioritising the nurturing of relationships, communication and social-emotional development, in both the children and the staff/families supporting them, because I know that developing these areas well, leads to better learning and future outcomes.

I am delighted to hold the role of Well-Being Governor and also sit on the Teaching and Learning: Pupils and Parents Committee.

Sandra Ottaway

Co-opted governor

Deputy headteacher

When I first started at Caroline Haslett School in January 1999, I was immediately struck by how polite, supportive and friendly our children are. Since that time, I have had the privilege of teaching many children over the years. A huge number of these have gone on to achieve great successes, which in part is due to the wonderful start they had here.

In 2008, I became the Deputy Head. Amongst other things, I am responsible for Assessment and Safeguarding. I work very closely with the Headteacher, Governors and teaching staff to ensure we provide an excellent education, so that each child can reach their potential. I am also fortunate enough to work very closely with parents and children to support the whole family in contributing to and feeling part of our school community. I am particularly proud of the dedicated staff team and governing board we have here. Their unwavering commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for our children and their high regard for the children’s welfare has enabled Caroline Haslett to be the outstanding school it is today.

Paul Quinton

Resources and Personnel Committee (R&P)

Sadia Farooq

Associate governor

Specialist governor for law and employment

I am a local resident and have two children that attend the school. I have a legal background in employment law and litigation and overtime. I have specialised in policy reviews, negotiations and representation. I hope that with the skills and knowledge I have acquired in my working life, I will be able to make a valuable contribution to the Resources and Personnel committee and to the School Governing Board as a whole. I would like to support the school in achieving its overall strategic direction by contributing to the small steps and hard work required. The school's achievements and standards speak for themselves and I just want to make sure that we can maintain and build upon them for the benefit of all our children. I sit on the Resources and Personnel Committee.

Andrea Fergusson

Associate governor

School Business Manager

My first connection to Caroline Haslett School was as a Parent in 2002 when my daughter joined in Year 4.  Both of my children attended the school and they thoroughly enjoyed their time here giving them a great start to their education.

I began working at Caroline Haslett School in 2004 as a Lunchtime Supervisor and took on the role of School Secretary the following year. In 2012 I gained my School Business Manager qualification following 2 years of study and was appointed as Caroline Haslett Schools Business Manager in April of that year. In my role I am responsible for managing the finances, personnel and premises of the school. As well as an Associate Governor I am an active member of our Friends Association. It’s great to see our children and families thoroughly enjoy the organised events that help raise additional funds that go towards purchasing resources to further enrich the school experience for the children.
