Art Work on Display

This week, Miss Frankish was proud to see some eager artists ready to display their masterpieces on her fridge at the start of 2025. She was very happy to see the children excited to share what they'd been learning in school in the form of art!

Mahnoor (Mayer) spent her time practising sketches. Her inspiration came from a YouTube video that showed her how to create a portrait of a girl. She said that she was able to apply some of the skills she'd learnt in school, such as hatching and shading. Thank you Mahnoor!

Elsie (Winstanley) has been working on her painting skills over the holidays and exploring different ways to blend colours. She said that she was inspired by the seaside because she loves to go to the beach. She told Miss Frankish that the sea is always very cold, but she wanted to use warm colours in her artwork to make it look like a sunset. Elsie used watercolour and a mixture of sponges and brushwork to make the colours blend beautifully! Well done!

Natalie (Murrey) has been wow’d by her new unit in art (Mythical Creatures) and has taken this as inspiration to create her own mythical creature - a Snake ’O’ Frog. She loved learning about Sara Fanelli who is an illustrator for children’s books.

Georgia (Winstanley) had taken inspiration from her Year 4 unit (Mythical Creatures), which she loved! Clearly, it has really stuck with her because she wanted to revisit drawing dragon eyes. She used her knowledge of the hardness of pencils to create shading and texture as well as using an eraser to create a shading effect. Well done!

Rayan (Crowther) has been experimenting with different hardness of pencil and working on his drawing skills. He wanted to share his hard work from practising cross-hatch and using different shading techniques. Excellent work, Rayan!
