Reading Library Agreement
We are thrilled to offer your child access to our school’s library, where they can explore a world of knowledge, creativity, and imagination. To ensure that our library runs smoothly and that each child benefits from our resources, we kindly ask that you review and sign the following Reading Library Agreement.
1. Purpose of the Library
Our school library provides children with the opportunity to borrow a range of age-appropriate books and resources to support their learning and foster a love of reading. The library is intended to complement classroom activities and to encourage independent reading and exploration.
2. Borrowing Guidelines
- Each child is allowed to borrow one book at a time.
- Borrowed books should be returned within two weeks to ensure all children have the opportunity to access popular titles.
- Children will be notified if a book is overdue.
3. Responsibility for Borrowed Books
- Parents/carers are asked to support their child in returning books on time.
- If a book is lost or damaged, parents/carers are responsible for replacing the book or reimbursing the school for the cost of the item.
- Children are expected to take good care of borrowed books, keeping them clean and undamaged. If a book is found with severe damage, please report it to the teacher.
4. Quiet and Respectful Library Use
We encourage children to treat the library as a quiet space for reading. Please remind your child to follow library rules, including:
- Using an indoor voice.
- Respecting the space, books, and other library materials.
- Taking care of the library’s resources, including furniture.
5. Encouraging Reading at Home
We believe reading is a lifelong skill that thrives with support both at school and at home. We encourage parents to:
- Read with or to your child regularly.
- Discuss the books they are borrowing to foster comprehension and enjoyment.
- Help your child keep track of their reading progress.
6. Consent to Library Use
By signing this agreement, you consent to your child using the library's resources under the terms set forth above. We appreciate your support in helping us create a positive and engaging library experience for all children.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to create a positive reading culture at Caroline Haslett. We look forward to seeing your child’s love for reading grow!
